Chairman's Choice Charity

On April 29, 2015 during the board meeting of Chairman Jay Casey at the 97th Annual CMSA Convention, Vice Chairman Patrick Longo introduced the idea of the CMSA Chairman’s Choice Charity donation program.   The program would allow the incoming Chairman to designate a charity of his/her choice, with the Board approval.  The CMSA Chairman’s Choice Charity would receive $5,000.00 at the succeeding CMSA convention.

On June 21, 2016, CMSA President Steve Weitekamp and CMSA Senior Chairman Patrick Longo delivered a check for $5,000 to the Alzheimer’s Orange County (formerly the Alzheimer’s Association, Orange County Chapter) office in Irvine, California.

During Longo’s tenure as the 2015-2016 CMSA Chairman, he selected the Alzheimer’s Orange County as his CMSA Chairman’s Choice Charity in honor of his late father.  In additional to selecting this organization to receive $5,000, Longo also helped raise $5,530 for the Alzheimer’s Association by putting together Team CMSA for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event at the Angel Stadium in Anaheim on November 14, 2015.

On May 6, 2017, CMSA President Steve Weitekamp and CMSA Senior Chairman Robert Fraser presented a $5,000 check to National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) Senior Director of Development Danae Johnson at the Oasis Awards Luncheon at the 99th Annual CMSA Convention held at The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, California.

During Fraser’s tenure as the 2016-2017 CMSA Chairman, he selected NBCF as his CMSA Chairman’s Choice Charity.  This charity is close to his heart because two of his sisters are breast cancer survivors.  In addition to selecting this organization to receive $5,000, Fraser also helped raise awareness and collected donations for NBCF through his company’s website.

The mission of NBCF:
“The National Breast Cancer Foundation’s mission is to provide help and inspire hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services.
