Approximately 83% of California Households
Within 10 Miles of an Ecollective E-waste Recyling Location

|
With 234 e-waste drop-off locations now operational,
ecollective is on track to make it safe, easy and free for all
Californians
to recycle their unwanted consumer electronics. |
It has only been four months since the launch of the ecollective
program, but, it is already very close to achieving its goal of
instituting safe, easy and free e-waste recycling within 10 miles of
95 percent of all households in California within one year. Many
CMSA members have joined the program and have actively contributed
towards its success.
A recent analysis of the current
ecollective network of e-waste drop-off locations determined that
more than 83 percent of California households (approximately 9.6
million) are now within 10 miles of their closest ecollective
e-waste drop-off location and 6 out of 10 households (7 million) are
within 5 miles of an ecollective.
The growth in ecollective
locations means that 9.6 million households can load up the family
car with obsolete and unwanted TVs, computer equipment, office
equipment, cell phones or other electronics, and drive no more than
10 miles to safely recycle it, knowing that all personal data will
be erased and every item will be processed here in the United
States.
E-waste is a growing global problem that requires
sustainable, local solutions. There is 70 percent of e-waste that
gets stockpiled because it is not easy to dispose of safely and only
15 percent ever gets recycled. The ecollective program is designed
to take back most kinds of unwanted and obsolete electronics. For a
complete list, see what we recycle at www.myecollective.com.
Ecollective e-waste is sent to state-approved e-waste recycling
plants operated by its creator ECS Refining, a recycler renowned for
its environmental ethics and responsible domestic recycling methods.
Recently, ECS Refining announced the purchase of a new
state-of-the-art recycling plant in Stockton, Calif. that will
dramatically increase its capacity to service California’s
burgeoning e-waste recycling needs.
